General Meeting Minutes

Kendrick Grange

Saturday, May 2, 2015 1:00 p.m.

Executive Board Members Present: Sharon Harris - President, Richard Abrams-vice president, Chris Kowrach Treasurer, and Jan Patterson Secretary 

Executive Board Members Absent: none 

Others Present: Loeda Reil 

1.     Sharon called the meeting to order at 1:04 p.m. 

2.     The minutes of the general meeting April 11, 2015 were accepted with corrections. 

3.     The treasurer reported that there is a total balance of $18,915.76 in our accounts.  

4.     Committee Reports:

a.)   Publications Committee reported that we sold 1 Southwick book, 1 Leland book, 1 Juliaetta DVD, 1 Kendrick tour book, and 6 Juliaetta tour books over the past month.

b.)  Sharon reported that our face book usage has been slower the past few weeks.

c.)   On our publication project Sharon reported that she will  be working on the Tramway book.

d.)  Chris reported that the web site usage has been high around a 110 visits per day.

e.)   We voted on and approved to put the $500.00 that we received from Woodward into our digital project. 

5.     Old Business:

a.)   We discussed the JKHF Museum opening. Everyone was pleased with the turn out. We discussed about taking pictures and or a video of the items that are in the museum to be used for people who are unable to get upstairs to the museum and could also be used for insurance records.

b.)  Chris reported that she will arrange a meeting in the next few weeks with Carlye from Troy Insurance and key players to go over our insurance coverage for the building.

c.)   We discussed our participation in Locust Blossom. We will have the museum and research center open. We will also be selling books and showing video’s on the first floor of the grange.

d.)  We plan to have the JKHF Museum and Research Center open on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays from 1 to 3. We discussed and voted on moving our JKHF meetings from the 1st Saturday to the second Saturday to coincide with when the museum is open.

6.     New Business:

a.)   Sharon will arrange a time to meet with Jerry Brown to scan his pictures.

b.)  We discussed working on signage for the museum and research center. Jan will make signs to be used until permanent signage can be made. Sharon will talk to the city to see what requirements are needed for permanent signage.

c.)   We need to work at selling raffle tickets for the JKHF. Price will be $1.00 a ticket and 6 for $5:00. 

7.     Next Meeting: Will be on Saturday June 13, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. — a work morning on the museum from 9 to 12:00 at the Fraternal Temple.

8.     The meeting adjourned at 1:43 p.m.
