General Meeting Minutes

Kendrick Grange

Thursday, October 17, 2013   3:30 p.m.

Executive Board Members Present: Sharon Harris - President, Chris Kowrach -Treasurer, and Jan Patterson -Secretary

Executive Board Members Absent: Milt Patterson – past president and Richard Abram-vice president

Others Present: Loeda Reil,

1.      Sharon called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m.

2.      The minutes of August 15, 2013 meeting were accepted as written.

3.      The treasurer reported that there is a total balance of $9,816.68 in our accounts.

4.      Committee Reports:

a.)   Sharon reported on publication sales. We have sold 210 Southwick books, 13 Kendrick Historical tour book, 58 DVD’s and 31 Leland books.

b.)   In the next few weeks Chris will be working on grants to help us with the final phase on the brick work for the grange building.

c.)   We discussed having a working meeting for the early part of November. The purpose of the meeting will be to work on the membership newsletter. A motion was made and seconded to change our base dues for membership to $20.00.

5.      Old Business:

a.)   Chris showed us the legs that the K.H.S. shop students will be making for our display panels. They hope to have this project finished in the next few months.

b.)   Since Richard was unable to attend our meeting we had no report about acquiring a slide projector from Jerome.

 6.      New Business:

a.)   Sharon reported on the receipt of some artifacts for the museum from the Galloway family.

b.)   A report was given about our participation at the Blackberry Festival. Sharon will try to contact the winner of the raffle and mail her the Southwick book.

c.)   Sharon will start gathering information soon for the Juliaetta Historical Tour book.

d.)   On Oct. 24 JKHF will co-host an open house with Gritman.  We hope to have a display of one of our early doctors of the area, Dr. Christensen. Sharon will try to get a picture of Dr. Christensen and also some old medical bottles and Jan will talk to Justine Cope about some artifacts used by Dr. Christensen.

e.)   We discussed and will check into establishing a face page for JKHF.

f.)     The city of Kendrick and Juliaetta have appointed the JKHF as the official historian for both cities.

g.)   Sharon has listed our book on WWll veterans on amazon.com. 

7.      Other Business: We discussed our nominations for the “stars of the community”. We decided to nominate Duana Chilberg and Mark Mustoe this year for helping with the research for the Southwick book. 

8.      Next Meeting: To be scheduled the first part of November a working meeting.

9.      The meeting was adjourned at 4:11 p.m.
