Annual Meeting Minutes

Kendrick Grange

Thursday, March 13, 2014 3:30 p.m.

 Executive Board Members Present: Sharon Harris - President, Chris Kowrach Treasure, and Jan Patterson Secretary

 Executive Board Members Absent: Milt Patterson – past president and Richard Abrams – vice president

 Others Present: Loeda Reil

 1.      Sharon called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m.

 2.      The minutes of February 20, 2014 meeting were accepted as written.

 3.      The treasurer reported that there is a total balance of $12,976.94 in our accounts. 

4.      Committee Reports:

a.)   Publications Committee reported that we sold 2 Southwick books and 1 Leland book the past month.

b.)    Chris reported that we maintain about 400 visits per month to our website.

c.)    Sharon reported on having a good response from the pictures that she has posted on FaceBook.

d.)   Chris is continuing to receive money from her grant writing; we are still waiting on 7 grants and have been denied on 1 request.

e.)   Chris reported on membership, she has heard back from 8 members after mailing a second reminder to 14 members. 

5.      Old Business:

a.)   Sharon is still working toward March 30 for a deadline for gathering information for the Juliaetta Historical tour booklet. Chris, Loeda, and Sharon plan to make a trip to Genesee White Springs Ranch to gather data and pictures of the Kendrick-Juliaetta area.

b.)   Chris is working with the new software that we hope to use in making a DVD of Southwick and Leland.

c.)    Chris will order the cemetery signage for the Cameron, Leland and Wild Rose Cemeteries.

d.)   We discussed working with the Clearwater Historical Society publishing a book Tom Forbo wrote about local Tramways.  

6.      New Business:

a.)   Chris will be talking to the Clearwater Historical Society about forming a partnership with them to work on books and other projects. We also hope to start yearly meetings with other small museums in the area (Pierce, Southwick, Orofino, Craigmont) to work together on group projects.

b.)   Chris will contact Pullman’s KQQQ/KHTR to list our city historical tours and the bike trail for the Summer Survival guide, which lists local summer activities and events.

c.)    We discussed the need to start acquiring from local churches records for our archives.

d.)   Locust Blossom plans were discussed with the hope of acquiring the old telephone switch board that was in Kendrick from the museum in Asotin to have on display for Locust Blossom.

e.)   We reviewed the updated design of the JKHF pamphlet before it goes the printer. 

7.      Next Meeting: Will be on Thursday April 17, 2014 at 3:30 at the Fraternal Temple.

8.      The meeting adjourned at 4:50 p.m.
