General Meeting Minutes

Kendrick Grange

Thursday, June 19, 2014 3:30 p.m.

Executive Board Members Present: Sharon Harris - President, Chris Kowrach Treasure, and Jan Patterson Secretary

Executive Board Members Absent: Milt Patterson – past president and Richard Abrams – vice president

Others Present: Loeda Reil, guest attendee Barry Johnson (Latah Eagle publisher/reporter)

1.     Sharon called the meeting to order at 3:35 p.m.

 2.     The minutes of April 17, 2014 meeting were accepted as written.

 3.     The treasurer reported that there is a total balance of $27,335.68 in our accounts.

4.     Committee Reports:

a.)   Publications Committee reported that we sold 12 Southwick books, 6 Leland book, 5 WWll books, 9 DVD, and 6 Kendrick tour books over the past month.

b.)  Juliaetta Historical tour project is progressing slowly; we hope to have the tour book finished by the first of September.

c.)    Chris reported that we maintain about 48 visits per day to our website.

d.)   Sharon reported on having a good response on Face Book, around 156 likes so far.

e.)   Chris gave us an update on the many grants that we have received. We then discussed how we will be using the grant money for a variety of future projects. 

5.     Old Business:

a.)   Feedback from Locust Blossom Festival was positive, everyone enjoyed our displays.

a. Maree McHugh a DJ on KRFP 90.3 F.M. community radio based in Moscow invited JKHF on her show called YIN Radio on Sunday August 17, Sharon will represent JKHF.                     

            b. Precious Gifts for Charity donated $125.00 to JKHF from their sales at Locust Blossom.

            c. Chris made signage for the Fraternal Temple building.

      b.) After some discussion it was decided the JKHF Brand Booklet will be a project that we will    

           work on next year.

       c.) Chris discussed updating our insurance policy for the Fraternal Temple building.

       d.) Chris reported that she has talked to Mr. Walker at the Kendrick High School Ag. Dept. about

            the display panel legs. She reported that 2 panels are finished and the remaining panels will

            be finished as soon as school starts. 

6.     New Business:

a.)   JKHF will host the South Latch County Bunchgrass tour on June 28.  The tour will stop in Kendrick around 1:30 p.m.

b.)   Southwick Community and Historical Center will be having a work day on June 28 from 8 – noon.  There will also be BBQ fundraiser on July 14 at 5:00 for the Southwick Community and Historical Center. 

7.     Next Meeting: Thursday July 17, 2014 at 3:30 p.m.

8.     The meeting adjourned at 4:50 p.m.
