General Meeting Minutes

Kendrick Grange    Thursday, July 17, 2014

Executive Board Members Present: Sharon Harris- President, Richard Abrams-vice president, Chris Kowrach Treasurer, and Jan Patterson Secretary 

Executive Board Members Absent: Milt Patterson – past president 

Others Present: Loeda Reil, Joyce Brocke, and Mark Mustoe 

1.     Sharon called the meeting to order at 3:35 p.m. 

2.     The minutes of June 19, 2014 meeting were accepted as written. 

3.     The treasurer reported that there is a total balance of $29,292.85 in our accounts.  

4.     Committee Reports:

a.)   Publications Committee reported that we have sold only a few books in the last month.

b.)  Juliaetta Historical tour project is progressing; we hope to have the tour book finished by the first of September.

c.)    Chris reported that we maintain about 38 visits per day to our website.

d.)   Sharon reported on having a good response on Face Book.

e.)   Chris gave us an update on the many grants that we have received.

f.)    JKHF Museum room has been cleaned and in the next few days the floors will be polished and buffed. 

5.     Old Business:

a.)   Chris reported she is still waiting to hear about our insurance policy for the Fraternal Temple building.

b.)   Loeda reported around 50 people participated in the South Latah County Bunchgrass Tour and enjoyed being in Kendrick and viewing the Kendrick Historical DVD.

c.)   Mark reported that around 70 people attended the Southwick Community and Historical Center BBQ.

d.)   JKHF will participate in the Juliaetta’s Blackberry Festival on Sept. 6th, Justice Cope will provide some Juliaetta photos and we hope to have Juliaetta Historical tour booklet finished. 

6.     New Business:

a.)   Chris reported on the visit from ID Heritage Trust, the visit provided us with information about building codes and how to apply for funds.

b.)   Chris is working on returning the unclaimed remains of an early Juliaetta resident O.U. Niles.

c.)   In the next few weeks we need to make a trip to the Asotin to pick-up donations.

d.)   We also need help in picking up a glass display case from Kathy Garland.

e.)   Chris reported on the purchase made by Joyce Brocke of a portable scanner, Chris is pleased with the quality of the scanner and will be using it to scan possibly Juliaetta City early records and to start scanning Jerry Brown’s photo’s. 

7.     Next Meeting: The August meeting will be a trip to the Asotin Museum to be announced.

8.     The meeting adjourned at 4:35 p.m.
