Annual Meeting Minutes

Kendrick Grange

Thursday, January 17, 2013 3:30 p.m.

Executive Board Members Present: Sharon Harris - President, Chris Kowrach Treasurer, and Jan Patterson Secretary

 Executive Board Members Absent: Milt Patterson – past president and Richard Abrams – vice president

 Others Present: Loeda Reil, Thad Davis and Donna Heinen

1.      Sharon called the meeting to order at 3:37 p.m.

 2.      The minutes of November 15, 2012 meeting were accepted as written.

3.      The treasurer reported that there is a total balance of $10,521.87 in our accounts. Chris also covered 2012 JKHF financial statement. Chris reported on our 2013 membership and discussed grants that JKHF have received. 

4.      Committee Reports:

a.)   Publications Committee reported that they are still gathering information for the Southwick book and still plan to send the book to the printer in the first few weeks of March.

b.)    Sharon reported that the hope is for the floor to be painted in the next few weeks.  

c.)    Brick work for the Fraternal Temple was discussed. Sharon discussed that a brick installer looked over the brick work at the grange and was pleased with the construction. It was discussed about doing some repairs on the brick work in stages.

d.)   Chris is continuing working on collecting and microfilming Kendrick Gazettes. Chris was able to have the copy write restrictions lifted for the gazettes.

e.)   Chris reported that the usage of the web site has been increasing with an average of around 42 people a day checking our web site.

5.      Old Business:

a.)   Chris has been in contact with Mr. Walker the Kendrick High School shop teacher to construct legs for the 12 display panels.

b.)   We discussed the U of I Architecture student projects. Everyone decided that the students had big “dreams” for the Fraternal Temple.

c.)    Chris discussed the several grants that she has been working on for JKHF.  These grants will be used for several projects that JKHF will be working on during 2013.

d.)   We discussed the need for signage for a few of cemeteries in the area. 

 6.      New Business:

a.)   Jan will do an audit of the JKHF financial records in the next week.

b.)   2012 JKHF volunteer hours have increased over the past year, with an average of 283 hours per month.

c.)    Archaeology and Historic Preservation month will be in May. It was discussed that we could tie this into our Locust Blossom celebrations, with a display from Francis Wittman and Nicki Lee of pictures from Kendrick’s First Brick Co.  

7.      Next Meeting: Will be on Thursday Feb. 21, 2013 at 3:30 at the Fraternal Temple.

8.      The meeting adjourned at 4:50 p.m.
