General Meeting Minutes

Kendrick Grange

Thursday,  April 17, 2014   3:30 p.m.

 

Executive Board Members Present: Sharon Harris - President, Chris Kowrach Treasure, and Jan Patterson Secretary

Executive Board Members Absent: Milt Patterson – past president and Richard Abram-vice president 

Others Present: Loeda Reil, Mark Mustoe 

1.     Sharon called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m. 

2.     The minutes of March 13, 2014 meeting were accepted with corrections. 

3.     The treasurer reported that there is a total balance of $11,704.01 in our accounts. 

4.     Committee Reports:

a.)   Sharon reported that there had been no publications sold in the last month.

b.)  Chris reported that the painting of the grand room upstairs has been finished. We discussed the need to clean-up this room in the next few weeks.

c.)   Juliaetta Historical tour project is coming together slowly.

d.)  Chris reported that the web site has had a usage of around 48 people per day.

e.)   Face Book usage is reaching new people every day.

f.)    Chris reported on the results of her grant writing. 

5.     Old Business:

a.)      Chris reported that she has acquired the signs for the three local cemeteries. We also need to check to see if American Ridge Cemetery needs a sign.

b.)   Since Richard was unable to attend our meeting we had no report about acquiring a slide projector from Jerome.

c.)   Locust Blossom plans for the JKHF were discussed. We plan to have a display of historical artifacts in the grange and to sell books. Mark Mustoe will use a booth in the park to discuss his plans for the Southwick Community Center. 

6.     New Business:

a.)   Chris reported that we have had a desk top computer donated by Larry and Sharon Harvey that we will be able to use in the archival research area. Doug Crockett also donated and installed memory, software, and hardware for our newly donated computer.

b.)  Chris is checking into updating our insurance policy for the grange building.

c.)   Chris reported on what she had learned when she attended the Latch County Historical Society Preserving Historic Pictures and Documents Seminar. 

7.     Other Business:

a.)Mark Mustoe reported on his progress and plans for the Southwick Community Center.

b.) Sharon reported on her visit to the Asotin Historical Society and on plans to receive the donation from Asotin of the old switch board that was used in Kendrick. 

8.     Next Meeting: To be scheduled for Thursday May 29, 2014 at 3:30 p.m.; a working meeting to set-up for Locust Blossom.

9.     The meeting was adjourned at 4:25 p.m.
