General Meeting Minutes

Kendrick Grange

Saturday, April 11, 2015 1:00 p.m.

 

Executive Board Members Present: Sharon Harris - President, Chris Kowrach Treasurer, and Jan Patterson Secretary

Executive Board Members Absent: Richard Abrams-vice president

 Others Present: Loeda Reil, Joyce Brocke

 1.     Sharon called the meeting to order at 1:10 p.m.

 2.     The minutes of the general meeting March 7, 2015 were accepted with corrections.

 3.     The treasurer reported that there is a total balance of $18,730.42 in our accounts. 

4.     Committee Reports:

a.)   Publications Committee reported that we sold 1 Southwick book, 1 Leland book, 2 Kendrick DVD’s, 2 Kendrick tour books, 7 Juliaetta DVD’s and 12 Juliaetta tour books over the past month.

b.)   Sharon reported that our face book usage runs around 1,000 viewers per week.

c.)   On our publication project Sharon reported that the Tramway book has been put on hold to after the JKHF Museum opening.

d.)  Chris reported that the web site usage for March was at a new high usage at 120 visits per day.

e.)   A museum donation report was given by Sharon; she reported that many interesting items have donated to the JKHF Museum.

f.)    Chris reported on the grants that we have received over the past few weeks.--Hill & Valley Garden Club and Potlatch Corporation

5.     Old Business:

a.)   JKHF Museum opening for Saturday April 25, 2015 was discussed. We discussed projects that needed to be finished and responsibilities for the opening. We also discussed when the museum would be opened. It was decided the museum would be open the 2nd and 4th Saturdays from 1 to 3 also by appointment.

b.)  Chris gave us a detailed report on the building insurance. The insurance for the grange building will be provided by Traveler Insurance. The costs for the insurance will be split with the grange and the JKHF. Carlye from Troy Insurance will come to our June meeting to discuss our insurance coverage and also discuss ways that we may be able to reduce our insurance costs.

c.)   Chris discussed future sharing of our digitized newspapers with the U of I special collections library web site eventually having U of I be the local web site to go to for those papers.

6.     New Business:

a.)   We discussed our publication inventory and our selling price of our publications. After a discussion we decided to keep our prices for our publications the same and reordered some of our most popular publications.  A selling price increase to cover print costs was tabled.

b.)  We also had a short discussion on who would be able to represent the JKHF on the LCHS board.

7.     Next Meeting: Will be on Saturday May 2, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. — a work morning on the museum from 9 to 12:00 at the Fraternal Temple.

8.     The meeting adjourned at 2:15 p.m.
