General Meeting Minutes

Kendrick Grange

Thursday April 18, 2013 3:30 p.m.

Executive Board Members Present: Sharon Harris - President, Richard Abrams – vice president, Chris Kowrach- Treasurer, and Jan Patterson - Secretary

 Executive Board Members Absent: Milt Patterson – past president

 Others Present: Loeda Reil

 1.      Sharon called the meeting to order at 3:40 p.m.

 2.      The minutes of March 21, 2013 meeting were accepted as written with corrections made.

3.      The treasurer reported that there is a total balance of $14,050.38 in our accounts.  

4.      Committee Reports:

a.)   Publications Committee reported that the Southwick book will be going to the printer in a few days. The book will be around 600 pages. There also have been 4 preordered hard copies of the Southwick book.

b.)    Brick work on the Fraternal Temple is scheduled to start phase 2 in the middle of June.

c.)   Chris reported that she and Richard will work on a letter to give to home owners about the signage for the historical homes in Kendrick.  If possible Richard hopes to make personnel contact with each home owners about the K-J Historical tour project.

d.)   JKHF “home” project will be starting in a few weeks in the grand room getting it ready for painting.

e.)   Chris reported that the usage of the web site has been increasing with an average of around 51 people a day checking our web site.

 5.      Old Business:

a.)   Locust Blossom Festival (May 25) participation:

i.)Jan will work on historical Locust Blossom window displays that she will have up the first part of May.

ii.)A display to sell bricks will be set-up at each location (the grange and the outdoor booth) for Locust Blossom.

iii.)We decided not to participate in the parade this year.

iv.)The JKHF regular meeting will be moved to May 23 so that we can set-up for Locust Blossom.

v.)Locust Blossom displays will focus on pictures of the old brick factory that was in Kendrick. We will also have a display of photo that need to be identified.

vi.)This year we will also show old logging movies in the Fire Hall.

vii.)We will also be selling books and giving away a copy of our new book about Southwick.

 6.      New Business:

a.)   Chris discussed about Idaho Gives, a state wide non-profit contribution day on May 2.

b.)   The JKHF organization is working with the new owners at Bennett’s Kendrick Hardware to set up a small display to sell books and have information about the organization.

6. Next Meeting: Will be on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 3:30 at the Fraternal Temple.
